Our rooms are perfect for a single night stay or a long weekend away and have everything you need for a relaxing countryside escape.

 

Named after some of the members of The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam drinking club, all our rooms, with the comfiest bedding and our signature touches, will mean your stay is anything but ‘bedlam’.

Porcupine

The artist Antonio Verrio, aptly named 'Porcupine', was responsible for a great deal of the very detailed art work in Burghley House.

 

Porcupine is a room on the ground floor of the building with a small walk past the Kitchen Garden. The room is spacious and enjoys historic artwork, fireplace detail, a king-sized bed and en-suite with a large walk-in shower. Porcupine is also one of our dog-friendly rooms. Greyhound

Baptist Noel (1684–1714), 3rd Earl of Gainsborough.

 

Greyhound is a spacious king-sized room, and enjoys historic artwork, with all the usual treats and a large walk-in shower.

Lamb

Robert Sutton, 2nd Baron Lexington (1662 – 1723) was an English diplomat.

 

A cosy double, Lamb is perfect for short overnight stays and a day of exploring. A little smaller than our other rooms but still with all the usual treats and a large walk-in shower.

Wildhorse

John Noel (1659 – 1718), a Rutland politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1711 and 1718.

A spacious and historic king-sized room located above the inn’s archway where tired horses would have been tethered. Also benefits from a beautiful and large ensuite bathroom located across the private lobby, and can also be set as a twin if you’d prefer.  Wildhorse is also one of our dog-friendly rooms. Badger

Sir Thomas Mackworth, 4th Baronet (died 1745) was a British landowner and politician from Rutland who sat in the English House of Commons between 1694 and 1708 and in the British House of Commons between 1713 and 1727.

 

A spacious king-sized bedroom, with a large walk-in shower, Badger also has an additional daybed for afternoon lounging, or to accommodate family stays. Badger is also one of our dog-friendly rooms. For more details, take a peek at our FAQs.

Lyon

John Cecil, 5th Earl of Exeter (c. 1648 – 1700), Lord Burghley until 1678, was a British peer and Member of Parliament who founded The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam.

Lyon is a showstopper room with a king-sized four-poster bed and bath in the room accessed by your own set of stairs in the pub. There's no stand-up shower, but who needs that when you can soak away the day in the clawfoot bath. 

Stag

Captain Charles Bertie (c. 1640 – 1711), of Uffington, was a British administrator, diplomat, and politician who sat in the English and British House of Commons between 1678 and 1711.

This king-sized room, can also be set as a twin if you’d prefer, with an additional daybed for afternoon lounging, or to accommodate family stays. Stag comes with a walk-in shower and separate bath, and is also one of our dog-friendly rooms. For more details, take a peek at our FAQs.

Newton

Named after 'Bedlam' member, Sir Isaac Newton - mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and author who was described in his time as a natural philosopher.

 

The room is spacious and enjoys historic artwork, fireplace detail, a king-sized bed bed with a large en-suite walk-in shower. There is space for an additional daybed to accommodate family stays.

Ram

The pseudonym of Sir Thomas Barker, Sheriff of Rutland around 1670.

 

Ram, enjoys a spacious king-sized bed, with a large en-suite bathroom with a separate walk-in shower and rolltop bath. Plenty of space to spread out and relax over a lazy afternoon. The room also has space for an additional daybed for family stays.
